Shower For Amy!

We were so happy to be able to celebrate my brother Dave and his wife Amy's upcoming baby with a shower at my Aunt Diane's house! We had a great time and really enjoyed seeing our relatives and introducing Jocelyn! Carolyn especially enjoyed that the party was only for girls since she is still in her "no boys" phase!

Carolyn, my mom and I made a diaper cake, sugar cookies and chocolates!

Carolyn helped by collecting everyone's guesses for how many m and m's were in the baby bottle.

We played a game where everyone had to guess how much ribbon it would take to wrap around Amy's baby belly - my mom and cousin Abbey were the closest - most people were WAY too long!

We also played a game where you had to remember as many baby items that filled a basket as you could.

Carolyn made a little kite for her new cousin - here she is proudly giving it to Amy!

Carolyn sat next to Amy the whole shower....

A Weekend With Friends!

We enjoyed a wonderful weekend with our friends Pete, Alicia, Ainsley and Gavin who came to visit and meet Jocelyn! We miss their friendship here, but were so glad to reconnect! We played at home, went to the playground and picked apples.

Good friends - we love Gav and Ains!

Jocelyn slept in the baby ktan while we picked apples. Check out my awesome babywearing coat with an insert for Jocelyn! It has a liner to be a winter coat too!

Visit to Pittsburgh!

Diane, Carolyn and Jocelyn all flew to Pittsburgh. Carolyn enjoyed the flight and Jocelyn did ok - of our 4 flights she slept one, cried for most of one, was happy and awake most of one and spent one sleeping half the time and crying the rest. Our flight home was a full flight and because our connection was quite late getting into BWI we were the last ones to get onto the plane. We landed 10 minutes after our connection was to leave but they held the plane for us (thank you Southwest!) and we ran on - only to find the only empty seats being middle seats totally separate from each other. After some bribing from the flight attendant (she offered a free alcoholic drink to any who would move for us!), someone moved and we sat next to a nice woman who was interested in talking to Carolyn and Jocelyn. All in all, the travel went well.

Enjoy some pictures of the highlight of our visit (pictures of the shower to follow in a separate post!)

Carolyn helped to make sugar cookies - yum!
We made pizza for dinner Friday night - Carolyn had her own little pan!

Grandma and Carolyn working on her crayon Halloween costume - it's very cute!

Jocelyn relaxing in mommy's old baby seat - good thing Grandma saves everything! I love this little outfit!

Uncle Dave and Aunt Amy got Carolyn her first lego's as an early birthday gift. Uncle Dave very patiently helped her make the whole kit!

It's beginning to look a lot like fall....

The leaves have changed and despite a lot of recent rain, fall is beautiful here! Carolyn has been enjoying learning about fall and leaves in her learning time, and we did a little project last night and this morning. We collected leaves outside (though there were a plethora of colors, Carolyn would only select red!). While I fed Jocelyn, Dad and Carolyn ironed the leaves in between pieces of wax paper to preserve them.

This afternoon, Carolyn and I cut out the leaves, punched holes and tied ribbons to them. (And yes, Carolyn is wearing a lined, velvet dress for today!)

Align CenterJocelyn woke up before we were done, so Carolyn held her while I hung the leaves from her ceiling. She is thrilled to have a room that looks like fall!

It's been chilly here, so the girls have been wearing their warm PJ's!

What We've Been Up To....

We've been busy! Jocelyn continues to grow and is in a bit of a growth spurt - eating record amounts (for her!) the last few days. She loves to be worn, and spends lot of her time in the baby ktan - definitely by far my favorite baby product!!!

We started doing "learning time" in the morning with Carolyn. Each day, we do the calendar and weather and then we do a language arts lesson (first rhyming and listening to sounds and are now doing letters). Then we do another concept - patterns, the seasons, classifying, etc. Carolyn really enjoys this time and looks forward to it each day. It's been great for me too and is a special time for the two of us together.

We painted the letters for "Jocelyn" (Carolyn has a matching one in her room that we made for her when she was a baby) and hung that on her wall.

Carolyn continues the role of adoring big sister. Here she is helping Jocelyn with her binky!

My two happy girls!
