Carolyn's Drawings

Carolyn is very into coloring, drawing, cutting and writing now. She loves to work on little projects. I was just commenting that she's so into projects, crafts, reading and playing outside that she hardly ever (literally!) even touches her toys (despite the fact that they overrun our house).

Mommy (on the left with hair), the baby growing in my tummy (the very skinny one) and Carolyn (the only one with legs)

A lot of very long M's - and if you search carefully you can find MOM written in several places. This was my mother's day card

Circus and Other Fun!

Carolyn had a great time at the circus earlier this month! Mommy and Daddy were pretty amazed too!!

Carolyn watched intently the whole show - parts of it were pretty overstimulating!

Carolyn said her favorite parts were the elephants and tigers.
The grand finale

Daddy pushes much higher and faster than mommy! :)

Carolyn still LOVES animals and was thrilled to get a pony ride!

Nothing else too exciting - I'm about 33 weeks pregnant now and feeling good, but very pregnant! Carolyn continues to be excited about being a big sister and has started to include the baby in all the drawings of our family. Zach finished his class 2 weeks ago now (which has a big relief to all of us - until the fall!) and has been busy with lots of yardwork and little projects around the house....

What We've Been up To....

We've been enjoying some beautiful weather, fun at parks, mom's group outings and learning activities at home....here are some highlights!

Carolyn wrote her name (copied from her name tag) for the first time on her Sunday school paper last week!

We had a tour of the fire station today and got to try on the fire helmet, squirt the fire house and drive the fire truck!

Carolyn loves to help in the kitchen and asked to make her own pizza last week when I was making a Stromboli.

By far the most exciting part of Carolyn's week was the long awaited arrival of her caterpillars. We bought a kit that helps you to raise caterpillars into butterflies - stay tuned for updates!

Easter in Pittsburgh

We enjoyed a fun trip to Pittsburgh to celebrate Easter with family! Enjoy some pictures!

Coloring Easter Eggs - Carolyn really enjoyed herself!

Carolyn and Daddy with her Easter basket. She's holding up a Clifford Toothbrush we found for her!

On an Easter Egg Hunt - my family does an Easter Egg hunt for the grandchildren. This year Carolyn was the only one young enough to do the hunt, but my uncle put together a neat Easter Egg hunt for the older grandchildren using the gps....

Opening her eggs to see what prizes she got!

Monday, we enjoyed a day at the Pittsburgh Zoo! Carolyn LOVED seeing all the animals and we had a great day! Here she is petting the sheep with Zach.

It was neat to go to the zoo in the early spring - since it wasn't so hot, all the animals were out and active. We got some great views of the lions!

Carolyn probably enjoyed the aquarium the most of all (although she said her favorite animal was the peacock). She really loved standing right in front of the glass and getting a great view of all the sea creatures!

Carolyn's Busy Days!

Carolyn's been busy! We are excited for Easter and so far Carolyn has been on 3 Easter Egg Hunts - with one yet to come!

The first Easter Egg Hunt was at Zach's work, where we got to meet an Easter Bunny. I was surprised that Carolyn wanted to go meet him. She announced afterward that he was not a real bunny, but a man in a bunny costume.

Our second Easter egg hunt was at a local nursing/retirement home that we visit with our moms group - mommy didn't bring the camera, so no pictures there!

Today we had a wonderful Easter Egg Hunt with the moms group. Carolyn filled her basket and then brought it home to sort her eggs.

Here she is sorting her eggs. The basket to the left in the picture is her eggs that still have treats in them, the m and m's all got put into a bowl and the other two baskets are her empty eggs. If you look closely, you'll notice that she is very busy refilling eggs with m and m's, but according to color, which really describes her "personality" very well.......

We've been making more of an effort to do "official" learning activities at home and started working on letters. We're working in the order of Carolyn's name because that is what she is interested in. We worked on C a few weeks ago and Carolyn can recognize and print C's. This week, we've been working on the letter A.

Carolyn completed this page by herself. The directions were to circle the summer pictures. After she finished the page, she looked a little puzzled. I asked her what was wrong and she said "I tried to circle the summer pictures, but really I made ovals...."

Carolyn's favorite activity is cutting and she has really been practicing. She cut this egg all by herself!!!

Acrobats of China!

Carolyn and I went to see Acrobats of China at the theater today and we were both very impressed! Carolyn was in awe the whole time, staring straight ahead with a mesmerized look on her face. A few times she commented under her breath "That was amazing!" and she was right!

All ready to go - this is one of my most favorite outfits on Carolyn!

Carolyn and her baby patiently waiting for the show to begin!

She was particularly impressed with the bike riding tricks the girls did!

Today after dinner, Carolyn announced "now I know a lot about acrobats, so I know how to practice for being an acrobat." She enlisted the help of her stuff dog, and spent the rest of the evening practicing. She still has a lot of practicing to do (and most likely the completely wrong body type for acrobatics...), but none the less, very cute!
